Dawn on Brouwersgracht
You know, that brief moment between summer and autumn? It just happened. It was almost unnoticeable. Every morning I look at the weather forecast and every morning it has been around 19 degrees Celsius or above. Its been the temperature where it is just warm enough in the sun to take off your jacket and enjoy the heat on your bare skin.
But this morning I looked and it was 17 degrees for the first time. I should have known something was up last night. I had forgotten about these times, but last night it rained the entire night through. That should have been the sign, but I didn’t recognize it. Not until this morning when I checked the weather.
It has been schizophrenic weather recently. The sky has been filled with very dark but seemingly fluffy clouds that always threaten rain but don’t quite take you there. It has been teasing us each day. Sometimes there is a brief shower, sometimes not. But when it does come it is those big, fat droplets that really soak.
But today it finally made it. To the time where you get drenched. To the time each year when you need a cuddle buddy. To the time when there is always a little chill in the air. It changed to autumn.
